Press Release-dated March 5, 2008:

Montana Kid’s Wanted at the 1880’s Ranch.

The 1880’s Ranch is proud to present its “Montana Kids Ranch & Outdoor Adventure Camp”. Unlike other northwest camps that target East coast kids, our program is aimed at giving Montana Kids a unique experience in their own backyard. This camp provides an introduction to horseback riding, mountaineering and outdoor living in our wonderful state.

We offer hands on experience in topographic map reading, camping, camp cooking, hiking, backpacking, fishing (cast & fly), animal and track identification, and safety and survival. We also offer horse care, safety, saddling, and horseback riding. The camp gives kids ages 8 to 16 an opportunity to experience Montana outdoors with a little western ranch life thrown in, while learning life skills.  Camp programs offer a wide variety of small and large group activities including hands on activities such as fixing fence, irrigating, work on out-buildings, make butter and soap, repairing trials and riparian areas. We also canoe, swim, and golf.

Our kids camps are 6 days and 7 nights, all inclusive (does not include fishing license) of which some nights are spent in tents and some nights in our unique modern cabins. We encourage friends and sibling to attend. We have worked hard to make this camp affordable for all participates, by offering a two for 1 price and can arrange special pricing for siblings.  See our website calendar for camp dates, prices and other activities throughout the year. Kids’ Camp applications & deposits received by March 24, 2008 will receive a 10% discount. If there is a child who would like to attend, but can not afford it, please email us with your particular situation, us as we may have some sponsorships available.

The 1880’s also offers Family vacation weeks- 6 days 7 nights or Mini Camps 4 days 3 nights; Group Retreats, Family Reunions, and Weddings-these may include week long activities for all guests. The rates for these activities are per unit, all inclusive, and can be customized for your group. Singles are welcome and reservations are required.

The Ranch is a unique 1880’s western town set in its own little valley nestled against the Deer Lodge/Beaverhead Mountain range just outside of Anaconda Montana. Our outfitting business is Wild Skies Outfitting-sponsor outfitter is Royal Tine Outfitting #6035 (www.wildskiesoutfitting.com), which gives us the opportunity to explore miles and miles of the Pintler Wilderness Area. Our outfitter and guide Pat Foster has 25 years experience of providing quality hunting, fishing and pack trips. Our manager, Dana Fowler, is a MSU graduate, with a K-12 teaching degree, was born and raised on a ranch, and took Mountaineer and Outdoor Living course in the Big Horn Mountains.  She hikes, fishes, camps, horseback rides, and enjoys photographing ranches and wildlife.  They look forward to sharing Montana outdoors with all interested parties.  For more information please see the website at www.MT1880sranch.com , or email questions to 1880sranch@gmail.com.
