Subject: New MCIV Program with Travel/Study Opportunity
Dear MCIV Members:
Our center has been chosen to host a new and exciting program called "The Algerian Youth Leadership Program" sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. There are two components to the program, one that brings the students to Montana, and the other that allows four students from here to join the participants during a two week study program in Washington D.C. and at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. The students chosen from Montana will have all their expenses paid, so this is a fabulous opportunity for those individuals. If you know a student, between the ages of 15 - 17 who you think would be interested, please forward to them the attach application. The dates of the program are August 4 - 16, 2008. The deadline is June 27th, so they will have to be able to submit the application by then. We expect these four students to find a home stay family (either their own or another family in the community) for one
of the 20 Algerian students who will be coming back to Bozeman with them on August 16th to finish the second part of their program.
There will be 20 high school age Algerian students who we will need to find homestays for during the dates of August 16 - 28.
Please let me know if you might be able to help out. MCIV would take care of the students during the daytime and home stay families would be expected to look after their respective student during the evenings. (A small stipend will be provided).
Please consider hosting one of these students.
I also want to let all our members know that our bi-annual newsletter will be mailed out by the end of the week. It will also be available for viewing on the MCIV website by tomorrow afternoon - http://www.montana.edu/mtcenter/news.htm.
As always, thanks for your support.
