Subject:                Distribution of $250,000 for Career and Tech Ed

On November 20, Governor Martz announced the allocation of $250,000 in additional funding to schools for district career and vocational/technical (CTE) education programs.  This new money comes from the original $73 million the federal government sent to Montana as part of federal tax cut legislation. These CTE monies are intended to supplement existing district budgets in the area of career and technical education.  The entire $250,000 will be distributed to schools on December 16, 2003.

The funds must be deposited in the districts Miscellaneous Programs Fund (15) using revenue account 4650 Miscellaneous Federal Grants/Revenue from OPI.  Expenditure of these funds must be recorded in expenditure program 465 using project number CTE2003FES. Districts may not transfer these funds to another fund for expenditure. The funds may be expended in FY2004 and beyond.

Like the State CTE funds sent to districts on November 1, these funds are being distributed under the provisions of MCA sections 20-7-306 and 307 and can only be used for approved secondary K-12 career and vocational/technical education programs.

A report showing the amount of each district's payment is posted on the OPI website at http://data.opi.state.mt.us/webinfo/paymentspdf/statectepayments/cteFes04.pdf.  When you open the report, you will need to find the page for your county.  The counties are listed in alphabetical order.
