Subject: IDEA Consolidated E-Grant Applications for FY'09 (School Year 2008-09)

It is anticipated that the IDEA Consolidated E-Grant application will be available by May 31.  When the application opens, it will include preliminary Part B and Preschool allocations. Fiscal agents for the application will not be able to formally submit the completed application until final allocations are prefilled into the application in late July. The deadline for submittal of the application is August 30, 2008.

A notice will be sent out when the application becomes available for data entry, as well as when the final allocations are prefilled into the application. In recent years, the final allocations have not changed from the preliminary allocations.

As a reminder, each and every district participating in the IDEA Consolidated application will again have to complete a portion of the application and submit the completed portion of the application to the fiscal agent. Fiscal agents will have to approve each and all members' portions of the application, in addition to completing their own portion of the application prior to submitting the IDEA Consolidated application to the OPI for approval.

Every district will need to have the following information in order to complete their portion of the application: The number of IDEA-eligible students enrolled in private schools/home schools within the district's boundaries on December 1, 2007; and the amount of state and local funds the district is budgeting for special education for the 2008-2009 school year.

A technical assistance guide for completion of the IDEA Consolidated application is available on the E-Grants Web site. Other training activities and technical assistance documents will be made available in the near future.

Questions regarding the application may be directed to Marlene Wallis at 444-2504 or the IDEA Program Manager at 444-4428.
